๐Ÿ“•Bible Verses About Those Days: Duration  Of The AD70 Great Tribulation

Matthew 24 (also Mark 13,

1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Luk 17:37

And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

Luk 19:43
For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

Luk 19:44
And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

Luk 21:20
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

๐Ÿ“• Review of Jesus' prophecy about great tribulation

Matthew 24 revealed that Jesus' prophecy about great tribulation  was given when He foretold the destruction of the amazing  Jerusalem temple. He said that the days would come when not one stone would be left standing - they would be thrown down.

In the prophecy, Jesus gave many signs about the Jewish revolt against the Roman Empire. However, He warned that the destruction of the temple would be near when armies surrounded the city (Luk 21:20).

The armies would:

Jerusalem would encounter great tribulation because of the surrounding armies

The Lord then warned that no one should remain in the city because great tribulation would ensue.   The synonyms used in related bible passages are:

  • great tribulation,
  • affliction,
  • great distress
  • wrath
  • days of vengeance
  • desolation.

Thlipsis (Strong's G2347) is the Greek word for tribulation

1. Great Tribulation

For then shall be great tribulation (thlipsis - Strong's G2347), such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

2. Affliction

For in those days shall be affliction (thlipsis - Strong's G2347), such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

3. Great distress and wrath

But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress (Strong's G318 - anagkฤ“) in the land, and wrath upon this people.

๐Ÿ“• Review of Jesus prophecy about the timeline of that great tribulation

Jesus then gave the parable of the fig tree growth to give clues as to the timing of Jerusalem's destruction. That time would begin in Spring when the fig tree begins to bloom after summer up to the time that summer is impending.

In other words, armies would surround Jerusalem in the spring and the siege would go up to summer. This would be that time of great tribulation.

Mat 24:32
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

Mat 24:33
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Breaking Dormancy: Rising temperatures and longer days trigger the tree to wake up. Sap begins to flow, and small green leaf buds swell and sprout at the tips of the branches.

☘ Late Spring (May): Leaf Flush & Shoot Elongation

๐Ÿ‘‰Jesus:  putteth forth leaves, you know summer is nigh- temple is about to be destroyed.

Vigorous Growth: The tree undergoes a massive flush of vegetative growth. Driven by warm weather and seasonal rains, it rapidly produces large leaves and extends new, green wood branches.

☘ Mid-Summer (July): Peak Sizing & Early Harvest

Breba Harvest: Depending on your regional climate, the Breba crop reaches full maturity. Ripe figs will suddenly triple in size over a few days, droop on their stems, and become soft and sweet for picking.

๐Ÿ“• Duration of the AD70 siege of Jerusalem (Jewish Calendar)

The Roman siege of Jerusalem up to the destruction of the temple lasted about 5 months on the Jewish calendar.  It took place at the beginning of the Jewish New Year in 6001, fulfilling Enoch's prophecy.

The cycle of events proved Jesus to be true. The fig tree began to blossom in Spring (siege began) and the destruction of the temple was imminent when the leaves began to bud.

Here is the timeline of the five month siege and destruction of  the  Jerusalem temple

The siege and destruction of the Jerusalem temple took place on a five month calendar. Pay attention to this timeline because it took place in the first five months of the New Year 6001 on the Jewish calendar:
