When Will The Temple Be Cleansed?

When Will The Temple Be Cleansed?

Meta Description

Let's deep dive into the question When Will The Temple Be Cleansed according to Daniel 8: 13 & 14?  We'll explore scriptures  and God's calendar to determine the timeline.

Introduction

In Israel Third Temple Update:  Daniel 8 Prophecy Fulfilled we explored the issue of the two Jerusalem temples and the destruction of the second by the Romans.

Jesus expanded on the Daniel 8 prophecy, giving specific details about the timing and events. This second destruction was fulfilled in 70 AD.

While the Bible does not explicitly use the term "Third Temple,"  Daniel prophesied that the temple would be cleansed in 2300 days.  This implies that there will be a third temple. This is confirmed by Prophets Zechariah, Jeremiah, Isaiah and John the Revelator. Maybe there are other references.

When Will The Temple Be Cleansed?

There Will Be 2300 Days From  The Temple's Desolation To Its Cleansing

After prophesying about the destruction of the second temple by the little horn (Roman Empire), Daniel was told that there will be a cleansing of that temple:

Then I heard a holy one (angel) speaking, and another holy one said to the one who was speaking, “How much time will be required to complete the vision regarding the regular sacrifice, the transgression that brings horror, and the trampling underfoot of both the sanctuary and the host [of the people]?”

He said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be cleansed and properly restored.(Daniel 8: 13 & 14 AMP).

When will the third temple be rebuilt?

When Was The Second Temple Destroyed?

Second Temple Destruction Date on the Gregorian Calendar:

The Second Temple was destroyed by the "abomination of desolation" around August 4th, 70AD.

Let's estimate the Second Temple Destruction Date using God's calendar which is found in the Book of Enoch. These are the key characteristics of God's calendar. It:

  •  begins each new year on the day after  the Spring Equinox.
  • has 30 days per month
  • does not include the equinox and solstices on the calendar.
  • has 12 months per year.
  • has 364 days per year.

When Is August 4th, 70AD On God's Calendar?

Years  began with the Spring Equinox as laid out in the Book of Enoch. Based on astronomical data, the spring equinox in 70 AD occurred on approximately March 22 at 15:13 Universal Time (UT).

The duration of time beginning with the March 22nd 70 AD to August 4th 70AD is 135 days.  Here is an estimate of the Hebrew - Gregorian calendar for AD70.  This estimate shows that the Second Temple destruction is likely to have taken place on 10th AV 6001:

When Will The Temple Be Cleansed?

Let's Calculate The Temple's Cleansing Timeline Based On Daniel 8: 14

Remember that in the prophecy Daniel was told that the temple would be destroyed by the little horn. At the time, the prophet was a captive in Babylon and knew that the first temple built by Solomon had not even been yet rebuilt.

God skipped over hundreds of years of future events to tell him that the little horn (Roman Empire) would destroy the temple, causing the sacrifices to cease.  This implied that there would be a second temple which would be cleansed in 2300 prophetic days from its destruction.

The Temple would be cleansed  in 2300 days:

The prophet was told in the vision that there would be 2300 prophetic days from the desolation to the cleansing of the temple.

Then I heard a holy one (angel) speaking, and another holy one said to the one who was speaking, “How much time will be required to complete the vision regarding the regular sacrifice, the transgression that brings horror, and the trampling underfoot of both the sanctuary and the host [of the people]?

He said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be cleansed and properly restored.(Daniel 8: 13 & 14 AMP).

First we need to determine the approximate date of the destruction or "abomination of desolation" then add the time to that date.

When is 2300 days?

Could it be 76 AD?

2300 days/364 day a year = 6 years and 3 months later?
That would be 76 AD or 6007 on God's Calendar.

Could 2300 days be the cleansing done by Judas Maccabees in 164 BCE?

That is hardly likely since that cleansing took place about 25, 316 days later. That event does not meet the prophetic timeline:

164 BCE/AD - 70 BCE/AD = 94 years later x 364 days = 25, 316 days.

When will the temple be cleansed?

Meaning of 2300 days on God's Prophetic timeline

To understand 2300 days, we need to understand how a timeless God sees earth time. To God:

  • one day = 1000 years.
  • 1000 years = 1 day.
Therefore, 2300 days = 2300 years in the prophecy of Daniel 8: 13  14:

Psa 90:4 - For thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

2Pe 3:8 - But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as thousand years, and thousand years as one day.

When Will The Third Temple Be Cleansed?

when will the third temple be cleansed

The exact timeline of the cleansing of the sanctuary

We need to add 2300 years to the date of destruction by the Romans to get to the date:

On the Gregorian Calendar:

70 AD + 2300 years = 2370

2370 - 2025 (current estimated year) = 345 years away.

On God's Calendar:

6001 + 2300 years = 8301.

That will be the 9th millennium when Jesus reigns.

The 9th millennium begins in  the year 8001 on God's Calendar.

We are around 8301 - 7955 (estimated year) = 346 years to go approximately.
