Jesus The Nazarene Prophecy Fulfilled
Matthew 2:23 KJV:
And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
HE SHALL BE CALLED A NAZARENE TEXT
Where is the Prophecy?
It was given about Samson, a picture of deliverance::
the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
Judges 13 5 and 7; 16: 17
5 For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
6 Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:
7 But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.
Judges 16
17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
The Prophecy was fulfilled because Jesus would save His people from their sins just as Samson would deliver his people from the Philistines
Matthew 1: 21
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
The Prophecy was fulfilled because Joseph went to Nazareth to live as instructed by God in order to shield Jesus from the Herod family
Matthew 2
19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.
21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
The Prophecy was fulfilled because He was called Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus Christ of Nazareth
NAZARETH MEANS THE GUARDED ONE - JESUS WAS HIDDEN IN NAZARETH
Nazarene means of Nazareth.
The Prophecy was fulfilled because His followers were called the sect of the Nazarene
Acts 24: 5
